Title
Monochrome infrared East African grasslands
Artist
Murray Rudd
Medium
Photograph - Fine Art Photographs
Description
This infrared image shows the sweep of the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya and into the Serengeti in Tanzania. In monochrome, the greens of the rich rainy season grasslands show up as frosty, blue skies become very dark, and cloud details are more visible than they are in visible light. While the landscape is familiar, because object that reflect visible light also reflect infrared light, it is somewhat uncanny when the world is viewed 'in another light.'

Lovely, surreal, lonely image; love the fore-tree in relation to the further tree.
Murray Rudd replied:
Thanks Teresamarie. Not too many people notice that! I actually work a lot with my regular driver there to line things up - he's a pretty good photographer himself and I am sure that he'll be working to line up trees with all his future passengers
