A woodpecker clings to the side of a tree and peers directly westward towards the sun in the late afternoon. This image was taken in Skelleftea, northern Sweden, in March 2018.

Thanks Brian. I obviously have not done the full transition from economist to photographer yet - when I saw DOF I immediately thought 'degrees of freedom' and had to think for a few seconds about depth of field!
