Description
Long exposure monochrome image taken at Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, after the sun had set. In color, this image would have been a blue hour shot but the clouds were so symmetric, blowing in from the west, that I processed this as a grainy monochrome. A few human shapes are visible in the shadows as visitors wrapped in blankets and sat watching the horizon.
This image was taken at one of Canada's iconic photography locations and is a place we visit during a number of my tours. It was shot on May 17, 2020, the first day that Nova Scotia shores and beaches re-opened to the public after the first Covid lockdown.
The photo was taken with a 16mm wide angle lens, an 8-second exposure, and processed in Photoshop. This image has the grain and toning of traditional black and white 800 ISO film and is well-suited for matte or semi-gloss paper, or for printing on canvas.
