Artist's Description
This short-eared owl had just eaten a field vole in the late-afternoon and was a little lethargic as it sat in a snowy furrowed field. There was a ditch filled with drifted snow just a little ways away, so I was able to slowly slink into the ditch and burrow into the snow, getting the lens to ground level as the owl watched. Shot late in the afternoon in fading light at Grand Pre, Nova Scotia, in late-January 2021.

Thanks very much Judi - local photographers are having a great time with these as normally they only migrate through our area in the autumn. I saw a couple pick off very plump field voles, so hunting must be great still (very warm winter here for the most part)
