This shot was part of an epic 3-part bald eagle sequence I shot, with > 25 images in total. It was very cold (-22 C wind chill) on this morning, so the eagles were burning a lot of energy to stay warm and were, therefore, really hungry and aggressive regarding food (chicken scraps). It was also extremely windy, and the eagles were powerful enough they could more or less hold their place and hover in the wind. The attacking eagle above had come in three separate times in this sequence but the bird on the ground was not backing down and eventually successfully fended off the challenge.
