About this image
This large male lion is known locally as Scarface in the Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. He lost a big chunk of skin on his forehead back in 2012 and skin partially obscures his vision in his right eye, and he is covered in scars (including a fresh one from the night before) from his long history of battles in the Mara.
