Artist's Description
An adult bald eagle perches on a branch on a big maple tree. I stayed out in the farm fields for 6-hours this day as I waited out this and the other eagles in the area getting hungry and cranky by late-afternoon. Anyone who follows my eagle work knows I am not usually one to photograph birds in trees. However, I really liked the snow frame in the big maple and the light was fabulous in the afternoon, so this is one of my exceptions. I was shooting with a big telephoto, so shot five individual photos and stitched them together into this high-resolution final image. Taken in late-January 2021, on a cold winter day at Sheffield Mills, Nova Scotia.
