Artist's Description
I was trying to shoot at a slightly slower shutter speed than I normally do for eagle action, hoping to get a clearly focused head shot with motion blur while panning my camera (hand held). This image, of an adult African fish eagle snapping up a perch in Lake Naivasha, Kenya, got the eye focus spot on along with the water below on the same focal plane. With the slower shutter speed, the wing tips and talons were both swinging and came out a little blurry, giving a sense of the eagle's speed and how focused it is when picking off a fish.
