Description
Hippos in the water of Lake Naivasha, Kenya. Lake Naivasha is a large, shallow lake in Kenya's Great Rift Valley and is a Ramsar wetland of international importance. It has hippos and a spectacular abundance of bird life. On Crescent Island, where much of the movie Born Free and parts of Out of Africa were filmed, there are no large predators anymore, so it is safe to get out and hike with water buck, giraffes, and antelope.

Hippos were one of my favorites to photograph while in Africa! Love the black and white option here, Murray.
Murray Rudd replied:
Thanks Marcy. I find them really difficult to shoot, to get some kind of photo that connects with people - probably more so than any other mammal in that part of the world.
