Description
A fish eagle just after picking up a perch. This monochrome image was taken at Lake Naivasha, Kenya, in December 2017.
Lake Naivasha is a large, shallow lake in Kenya's Great Rift Valley and is a Ramsar wetland of international importance. It has hippos and a spectacular abundance of bird life. On Crescent Island, where much of the movie Born Free and parts of Out of Africa were filmed, there are no large predators anymore, so it is safe to get out and hike with water buck, giraffes, and antelope. It is also one of the world's premiere eagle photography sites, with numerous pairs of large, nesting African fish eagles spaced out around the perimeter of the wetlands.
